Lightbulb iPhone stuck in Recovery mode. Trouble restoring iPhone - what could I do?

I have an iPhone 3G. I am trying to restore it but have had trouble all day. This is what I have done so far:

    1. Run redsn0w 0.96b6
    2. Use iPhone1,2_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw as the current firmware.
    3. Run redsn0w with default settings until the iPhone enters DFU mode
    4. Everything from redsn0w's perspective runs great - the phone installs the jailbroken data, and reboots, as expected.
    5. I then open up iTunes and still get a "an iPhone was detected in recovery mode" error. My iPhone shows the frustrating image of the USB cable plugging into iTunes.

What could I be doing wrong? I'm at my wits end here.
    Thanks.

I posted it in some other similar threads today and have had three people reply that it worked for them too, and nobody so far saying it hasn't worked with iPhone Data Recovery. And yes, everything was still on my iPad; contacts, web bookmarks, all photos, nothing was changed. It just didn't update to iOS 7. After I got it working again I just used Wi-Fi and upgraded to iOS 7 over the air with no problems, using it as I type this. If you're still stuck, trying this will not endanger anything at all on your device. Worth a try at least, and I'm guessing it'll work for you to recover lost data of iPhone stuck in recovery mode.
    Good luck!

Don't worry about that. iPhone stuck in recovery mode always happens when you update the iOS on your iPhone. And you can solve the problem by doing so:

First is to put your iPhone in DFU mode.
    1. Turn off iPhone
    2. Hold down the power and home button.
    3. When you see the Apple logo, release the power button but continue holding the home button down.
    4. Open iTunes and wait for it to tell you that it’s in restore mode.

I hope this can help you restore iPhone when it stuck in recovery mode.

Forget what you were doing. Reset your iPhone. If this cannot work, maybe you can use iPhone data recovery since iPhone stuck recovery mode can be solved well by it.

For an Apple user, to get rid of iPhone Stuck in Recovery Mode, you can try iPhone Data Recovery. After install the program, connect iPhone to the computer. You'll see the window pop up. Click "Restart" and iPhone will return to normal in a few minutes. What's more, if you want to recover deleted data, you can achieve it through this software.

Put it in DFU mode and connect it to iTunes. iTunes will freak out and tell you to restore it.
I've tried FonePaw iPhone Data Recovery to fix the stuck recovery mode for my iPhone 5s, and restore lost data ever fail on me.

Your phone isn't stuck in recovery mode...its stuck in a DFU loop. Download iPhone Data Recovery and associated recovery fix. Start iPhone Data Recovery and go to logs...you will see your phone showing it's in a DFU mode. Click on the recovery fix and you'll see your phone kicked into a true recovery mode. At this point you will ant to start your iTunes assuming you have the latest version and do a complete restore with the latest IOS. Do that and you're good to go. If it fails on the first try just repeat the steps.
